Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Asheville is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We were looking for a sweet treat after our lunch in Asheville, and stumbled upon Old Europe Pastries on our walk. The inside of the store isn’t huge, but has sufficient capacity to handle a medium-sized clientele. Their presentation is their USP—delectable brownies, pastries and other sweet treats capture your attention as soon as you get close to the ordering counter. We got the Hazelnut Napoleon—the hazelnut mousse was out of this world, and a blackberry cake slice, which was decent(nothing amazing). The cappuccino was average. Their other menu items run the gamut from coffees to cheesecakes to cookies and macarons. The staff was prompt and welcoming. The restrooms inside need a code to enter, which you can ask the staff. Parking nearby is street parking.

I am in love with this place!!! I’d been meaning to check out their gluten free options and finally made it happen. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the gluten free choices - as well as the dairy-free/vegan options. The gf/vegan chocolate cupcake is amazing! I can’t wait to return and try more pastries soon!

Old Europe Pastries was one of my favorite places visit to Asheville so far! It’s like actually being in a European café, with a selection of fresh pastries, cakes, coffee and more. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. They said the owner was from Hungry too. It tasted that way too. It amazed me how much was gluten free options there were on top of that. The staff are friendly, the service was great. If you're visiting Asheville you have to go to this bakery. Highly recommended! Eat dessert first! LOL

AMAZING PLACE- Old Europe is a taste of the past for anyone born in Europe who appreciates high-quality sweet & savory treats. Their pastries are always so fresh, flaky - best quiche we have EVER had -, offering a delightful variety of flavors. Their coffees & teas are amazing! The staff is welcoming, and the clean, cool, bistro like atmosphere makes it the go-to place in all Ashville at any time of day! Waiting for the owner to expand to Tampa/St Petersburg Florida!
